Fundraising
JES Olympics — A week-long, on-campus fundraiser where kids ask friends and family for donations (creativity encouraged!). Classes compete for prizes, and the week wraps up with an outdoor obstacle course on Friday. A fun volunteer opportunity too.
ALL ABOUT OLYMPICSSpirit Nights / Givebacks — We partner with local businesses that donate a share of sales (often 20%) when JES families dine or shop on a designated night.
JES Auction and Adult Event — Our biggest fundraiser of the year. The Auction team spends months securing incredible items and experiences, all leading up to a ticketed evening of bidding and celebrating, and a great night out for the adults. This year, it’s on Saturday, November 14th. Tickets go fast, so it’s worth buying early.

Silent Auction — A huge part of what gets auctioned are experiences for your kids and family! You can bid on things like “Teacher for the Day”, rename the art room, secure a dedicated parking spot and much more!
ALL ABOUT AUCTIONClub Charlie — A district-wide fundraiser for kindergarten classes across CISD. It’s a friendly competition to see who can raise the highest percentage of donations relative to grade size. Funds go to CISD, not JES.

The Dragon Code is the set of values that the kids learn at school:
I am a DRAGON, I:
Do the right thing
Respect others
Act with kindness
Give my best work
Offer help
Never give up

We are strong, we are smart, we are kind. We are JES!
Dragon Diamonds — When a kid is “caught” living the Dragon Code, a staff member awards them a Dragon Diamond, which is a ticket entered into a drawing. Every Friday there’s a Dragon Diamond assembly with one winner per grade, recognized for their kindness and awarded a prize of their choice.

Spirit Shop — The JES Spirit Shop is your one-stop shop for Dragon gear! Every purchase directly supports Johnson Elementary and helps fund programs for our students and teachers. Shop online year-round or visit us at school events like Meet the Teacher, the Community Sale, Fall Picnic, Grandparents Day, and more. You’ll find apparel, gifts, accessories, and limited-edition collections for students, parents, grandparents, and teachers. It’s also one of the easiest ways to volunteer—whether helping at an event or behind the scenes.
SHOP NOWDragon Wagon — The first Friday of each month, the PTO sets up a trinket shop kids can browse during lunch, with items from $0.50–$5. Send a labeled baggie with cash and your child’s name in their backpack that morning. It’s also a fun, low-commitment way to start volunteering! Pick up a 2-hour shift when signups open.
Birthdays at JES — Send in a district-approved treat to share with the class, marked clearly NUT FREE and approved by the front office. Birthdays are also celebrated monthly during lunch.
Field Trips & School Shirts — Every grade takes two field trips a year (Fall and Spring). Parents are welcome to sign up to chaperone — your teacher will share details. Kids receive a free JES tee, paid for by the PTO, to wear on the trip.
JES Tailgate — Once per season, JES organizes a Tailgate in the parking lot of Dragon stadium before one of the football games. Everyone is welcome. Dads Club grills! It’s Friday night lights in Southlake.

Fall Picnic — A favorite JES tradition on a Friday night in October, right on the playground. Games, food trucks, and the whole family is welcome.

Storybook Character Parade — On Halloween (or the Friday before if it falls on a weekend), kids are invited to wear book-inspired costumes for a parade around the building. Parents get to watch!
Outreach committee — Gives gifts to all non-homeroom faculty, and coordinates special events like weddings and baby showers for JES staff.
Hospitality — Plans and hosts monthly luncheons and staff snacks for their quarterly meetings.
Wishlists — Twice a year, teachers submit their wishlists for anything they want, like new rugs, craft supplies, etc., that falls outside of their start-up funds and mid-year funds. It’s all paid for by the PTO.

Grandparents and Special Persons Day — The Friday before Thanksgiving break, grandparents (or any special person in your child’s life) are invited to visit, tour the school, and share lunch together.
Gingerbread Village — After Thanksgiving, families build gingerbread houses and bring them to school, where they’re displayed down the hallways. A magical (and delightfully fragrant) start to the holiday season.

Daddy/Daughter Dance and Mother/Son Fun Night — Family date nights hosted at school and organized by the PTO.
Around the World Multicultural Night – JES families are invited to showcase their international cultures: food, games, traditions, and more! Kids love being able to take JES Flight 76092 to explore.

Teacher Appreciation Week (TAW) — We spoil our staff throughout the year, but on TAW we go all out! A week of daily treats, themed lunches, and gifts to show our staff how much we love them.

Field Day — One of the last events of the school year: three-legged races, class tug-of-war, popsicles, and more.
